Hey guys so todays going to be just a book review of the book freak the mighty also this is going to be the last blogpost so if you are intrested go read the book it will make alot more scence than i would writting this.

So overall my rate on this book would have to be a 8/10 the reason i give this book an 8 is because it has a basic plot line and theres not really that much energy flowing through it. another reason i give this book an 8 is because ive read and seen so many of the same plot line and these type of books arent really my style so i didnt really think much of this book but if this is your type of book go down somewhere and read it if you like the plot line that includes - bullying two people becoming friends and those same people trying to stick up for who they are - then i highly recomend this book to you! (:

freak the mighty UPDATE!!!!!

Hey bloggers so todays blog is an update about what has been happening in the story freak the mighty so lets just get on to it!!  (I think i got my chapters mixed up )

So in the chapters 4, 5 and 6 we have been introduced to the character Freak. He is the type of braint character with a weird but clever imagination. This kid has created his own dictonary with words in his own meaning like herstory which means the story of a womens point of view. At first max thinks Freak is weird but soon began to make friends with freak.

Then with chapters 7, 8 and 9 where really no different freak and max got closer and started discusing about how they are going to stick up for there self. they went investagateing for something and sone discovered a drain that smelt like something died in a storm and went into the drain. Even i dont know whats going on at this point but so far the books been really cool.

Chapters 10, 11 and 12 where intresting like really interesting at this point i dont really have the idea of the text but i still really like the story and I want to make sure I don't spoil to much of the story so you guys can read it as well.

The last chapters 13, 14 and 15 so these chapters had a weird but interesting so as I was reading I kept on seeing weird words that freak has been using ( see some wordds he made in my other blogpost!) SO these chapters where really just building into the story and the story has gotten to a more basic plot line two boys and outcasts they become friends. they soon become more out there. so lets just see how this story ends.

Excalibur: a sword that has some type of magical powers

Herstory: The past from a womens point of view
Gram: Some sweet lady that is lighted up
Idea: A plant seed that has magicaly poped in your brain.

I always go to a libary to get more books of truth because I need to get more smarter

A herstory is like a history but its from a girls point of view that I like to read in my spear time

I like excaliburs because the swords are always different in there own way

Some peoples noses are big enough to sneeze out a hot dog so I like to call them butt heads ;-;

Pe Hurumanu

Hey bloggers so its been quite a long time since i did a blogpost about PE so what im talking to you about today is how I went with teaching volley ball. So my group at first weren't really taking part but they soon started realizing that we needed to get this done.           

So our group stood up and begain to start explaning how to play volleyball we did a few demonstrations for the warm ups. over all my group was succesful and so was I because my group actually got on with teaching the lesson and not focusing on just talking. I was actually quite happy with how well my group worked to get our volleyball lesson over and done with.

My role in the group so to basically help people and sort out the groups if one team didn't have enough. I contributed to the group by doing what they asked when they thought it was going to take a lot longer then plan. I also helped contributed by just helping out people in the long term.

Something I would do different next time would be alot more organized and be prepared to help other people out instead of finding out as soon as we were doing the demonstration.

Two things I have learnt about my sport was that its not as easy as it looks but it was still very fun. The other thing i learnt was that people were actually alot better at volleyball that i imagned. Over all this experience was really fun and I would do it again but just teach another sport

DMIC maths

Hey so on tuesday my class was doing an activity called DMIC maths this is normal maths apart from the fact that you do it in groups im in a group with Shelby, Tasharn, Tj, Alex and Jrae and we had to post what we did on tuesday.

Ariana earnt $10 on the first day of two weeks and every other day after that she earnt $2 more so if we add all this up and put did how much days are in two weeks which is 14 so 14 days and $12 for 13 of those days so if we go 12 x 14 we would get 168 and we need to take away 2 for one of those days so we would get 106 so if ariana worked for two weeks her total at the end would be $166.

Matiu worked the same amount of time but he got $1 on the first day but every day after that the money doubled so we would the go 14 x 2 for all the doubles and then that would = 28 we take away one for the first day and get 27 so in the long run Matiu would get $27 by the end of two weeks.

Who would you rather be?? if you just say that question Matiu got $1 on the first day but then it doubled every other day. Ariana will get $10 on the first day then two more after that.

Tane Mahuta

Hey so i know its been a long time since i posted about my CIP so... Lets just get on with it. So for today we werent inside apart from writting this blogpost. The first thing we did today was go out to the back of the field and take all the weeds that where surrounding the trees that classes were planting.

The other thing we did was after morning tea we went out to the garden and started taking out the weeds that were in the garden because we had 2 weeks with out working in the garden this was basically all we did sorry it was short so I will jupdate you guys more when we do alot more stuff.

Freak The Mighty

So I am writing this for a new novel study expectations for our group enjoy! 

Based on the front cover i’m guessing the book would be about standing up for who you are and even if you are a freak you are mighty.

If something is described as Mighty I think it would best be described as being a inspiration to the people around you.

A time I have been called a name was in primary school. I felt like I was nothing but as a grew up everything changed and i’m happy about that.

A bystander is a person who just watches something happen and an outstander is when someone does something about it.

I think this story will be about two people becoming someone they love instead of being drowned by negativity.

so this is more questions and awnsers about the book some of the characters we have just met in this story are Gram, Grim and Max what went on in the first few chapters was pretty simple how max gets bullied and about how Gram and Grim where always trying to give more love to max. Max didn't want there love tho he just wanted to be liked. from just reading the first 3 chaptersI can tell that i am going to like this book.

Novel Study Task

Name of book : Neglma

I choose to share this book because i am really into japanesse and because I really enjoy graphic novels. This novel was interesting to me because of the story that follows along with it.

So as much as I find this book apeling its not for childeren under 16 so I am going to return this book and get a new graphic novel and share it with you guys.

My personal thought about this book was that its really interesting and the drawings are good quailtiy but the story line is a bit bland and not very eye catching if im being honest the man character is a rip off of izuku midoriya for boku no hero academia.

Orana Park Trip

Hey bloggers so on monday this week classes bh and tz went on a trip to orana park and i am here to tell you about what we did at the trip.

So at the start of the day we had to go to the learning commons and had in our flyers to say that we could go. After we handed our flyers in we got badges that had our names on them after a few 30 to 40 minutes we finaly got to go on the road some people had to go on a van.

After about 15 minutes we finaly arived at orana park I was excited but I had been there 3 times so I didnt think much of it but I was still excited. After a little introduction we went to see our first animal which was a meercat. They where cute and looked like they needed a hug but I know that they would cut me into tacobell if i did that.

We then split into two groups because all together there where two much people so we split off and my group first went to the reptial exzibit and we were learning about why reptials needs heaters to keep there bodies warm.

After that exzibit we went over to the spider monkeys but they werent out at the moment they where sleeping or eating i cant quite remember. After we tried to look at the monkeys we went over to the Kia. We went into the cage to go see them there where two of them i forgot there names but there were flying really close to all of us.

After a few more animals we finaly arrived to the gorrilas these gorrilas where big but they looked adorable so as always i wanted to hug them but there was glass in the way. We where finaly coming to the end of our trip but we where going to go feed the giraffes I didn't want to so i sat down and waited until everyone was done.

It was finaly time to go back I was sad but happy at the same time I went back onto the van and then we went back to school.

PE hurumanu

Hey bloggers so for the past few weeks in PE classes Bh and Tz have been working on explaning a sport to the class and then we play it. To start we had the bench ball team we started with some simple warm ups which consists of high knees jogging and star jumps this had almost everyone out of breath becuase it ran for 5 minutes.

The drill we did was sneak up on granny. I found it intresting because it dosent have anything to do with the game but I didnt mind it I still had fun and so did my friends. After we did the warm ups and drills we started the game at first it was tz year 8s vs  bh year 8s and the other team that was playing was tz year 7s vs year bh year 7s.

I was part of the year 8s I was in bh and my team won. We had two games and bh won both of them I was happy but I didn't think much of it considering in the next game we would have all the year 8s vs all the year 7s.

After playing a long and tyring game year 8s won I felt amazing knowing that we had won!! Before we played all the games we did a maths assesment based on sports we got put into a team of three and miss birtch was telling us questions and our group had to awnser them we got alot of help (because miss birtch is an amazing teacher and gave us clues) and we all had a try in doing the maths.

What I learnt through out the maths is that it is really really and i mean really expeinsive getting a football or rugby field to its perfection. What I also learnt was that team work always helps espesally when you all share ideas.

I found the maths task hard to do mainly because Im not that good at maths but I still gave it a try. Some of the ways I tried to do this maths task was share my ideas with people and taking my time to try and figure out the awnser.

Over all these weeks have been fun and I hope we could have more fun activitys like this make sure to give me some feedback and ill see you in the next blogpost bye!

Hello bloggers and today we are having a very intresting blog because a famous writer named Ella West this writer is the person who created Night Vision. Ella West came to our school because a group in AL where reading Night Vision and after they have

 finished Ella West saw the blog posts and decided to come vist us. Ella West lived in deniden with her children and her husband. Ella West spends alot of time thinking about her books and about how the story should go.

Ella West decide that she would base her story on a girl with a very rare disease where if someone that has the illness goes into the sunlight or just into the light at all there skin burns off. Ella West decide to base her story on a girl she had met with this disease. In the first scene of the book the little girl had saw a murdere happen. I havent read this story but I can tell its fulled with emotions that could touch your heart.

Ella West has currently been working on a book called the sound of my heart. This book is based off of running and the sound your heart makes I know it sounds boring but there is most likely going to be a catch.

On Ella Wests first book she made she was nervous and handed her book in 2 months later they gave her book back and said she needed to rewrite it. Ella West then asked what part and the person responded with all of it. So Ella West had to rewrite this whole book but she didn't mind it.

Ella West alos has a published book called Rain Fall this book isnt based on a murdere but a boy that went missing. I havent read this book but I can tell that this book is going to be great.


What I though about these books even tho I didnt read them I think they look really cool and I really do want to read all of Ella Wests books!

War Horse ~ Reading

Hey readers so for the past two terms my reading group has been working on a story called war horse this story actually almost brought a tear to my eye while reading it the author of this book is kensuke's kingdom. Anyway this book is based on world war 1 the main character was named Joey he was a horse and hes the one who shared his POV (Point of view) of the story Joey had a ruf start to his life but continued on and stayed till the very end a lot of sad things happened but they where resolved and Joey got back to his owner named Albert. Albert was planning to join the war where joey was and wanted to get joey back. In the end no matter how much trauma Joey went through he stayed alive to be reunited with Albert.
Over all I really did like this book it had parts of the story that brought a tear to my eye! Anyway thats all form me today goodbye and make sure to comment and give me some feedback Bye Bye!

Rock Painting

Hey bloggers so todays blog is still about CIP but todays CIP was alot of fun so at the start of the day everyone in tane mahuta went out to the garden and started to clean up the ground we where cleaning for about 10 minutes when we could finally see the ground underneath all of the dirt and wood I felt amazed in eveyone including myself for what we had achived in the time given and I cant wait for the full result of the classrooms.

After morning tea we all went back in too class AL and listened to what the teacher was telling us we got told that we were going to be painting rocks because it was raining outside I got excited because painting and drawing are the two main things I do. Table byt Table people went up and so did I my rock was medium and I was able to put my ideas onto it.

After I finished the design I started painting on my rock the paint was smooth but I didn't like the colour options that they had but I still finshed off my painting. My rock didn't turn out the way I hoped for it but sometimes it just goes a different path.

Something I think I could do better would be to have a clear image in my mind and make sure that I dont stay on task. Something I think I did great was getting the painting done and making this blogpost and I am thankful for that.

PE hurumanu

Hey bloggers so todays post is about PE this time PE was actually really fun anyway what I have been working on today was trying out our drills and seeing if they worked for the time given and if they were succesfull. My team wasen't succesfull but thats okay they stilled tried and next time we are going to try again. 

Throughout this session I have been working with others succesfully! But there is still a couple of things my team needs to work on like lisening and paying attention. What my group did well throughout this session is actually giving something new a try and I am thankfull for that.

Something I still think my group can improve on is actually getting on with the task they where given and listening to peoples ideas and opinions. What I think we could try doing next time is having a talk about we people need our attention and how we should respect that opinion.

This session what I have found challangeing was the fact that almost nobody in my group was listening to the leader/coach when they were speaking to the group with this I also compeleted a graduate profile by controlling my emotions and not breaking out with anger at the people who weren't listening.

Something that I have found really enjoyable was that we got to try and play the game we have choosen for one of the exersices.

I achieved another one of my graduate profiles which was helping someone who was struggling by helping the person who was talking and try to help the group listen.


Overall I really do like getting to play a sports I enjoy and I don't play meny sports at all so my feedback for this is that my group needs to listen to who is talking apart from that I like this activity we are doing in PE.

CIP

Hey bloggers so today in Tane Mahuta me and other people were out in the garden well gardening the main thing I was working on pulling out the ivy from around the garden to make sure we get alot more healthy trees. I was also helping to dig out and tip over the dirt so we could have good soil.

For my passion project I choose singing what I have been working in singing is learning new songs that we could possibly sing for a compatition we would be entering learning new songs is was hard for me because im not that open to new things. Over all i really do like singing and I hope that I can countinue with singing.

Through out both of the CIP and passion projects I really like what I have choosen and hope to continue with it later on in the term. I have been stepping up my aim and being more focused on helping out in the garden I have gottan more jobs done then I did the week before and I hope this behaver stays with me so I can enjoy the CIP I have choosen.

Something I think I still need to work on is actually knowing what my next steps are instead of just sitting down doing nothing to help out. over all my opinion of all of this is that it is really fun and exciting.

PE Hurumanu

Hey blog readers!!! So this was my first pe hurumanu this term!! We have a lovely teacher called Miss Simpson and Miss Birtch today we were working on doing a beep test!! This was fun yet it uses all your energy so i wasent able to do my best considering i got no sleep at all! But i enjoyed it. We did this test so we could see how we inprove in the future.

My results from the beep test where 3.6 I could have done better but i didnt get any sleep from the night before. This was a boys and girls type thing the boys went first (Which consits of Tz and Bh) I did one of the three aspects help someone who was struggling by cheering a person on who looked tired and looked like they wanted to give up already.

Something that did affect me was the lack of my sleep from the night before so what I do need to work on is getting enough sleep and to keep trying even when I feel like I should just give up! Throughout thinking about my lack of sleep I compeleted another aspect by not putting up a fit over not having enough sleep and so by this I controlled my actions and emotions and still tried my best.

I am going to improve my score next time by getting more sleep and preparing for the beep test so I know what my expectations are for it. Through out all this hurumanu so far I have worked succesfully with others by cheering them on and making sure I stay out of the way they are running and respecting other peoples choice of games.

Stop Motion!

Hey!! so through out the past 8 weeks classes 7/8bh and 7/8tz have been working together to help create a stop motion video I was in a group with Shelby from bh and Meleana from tz. We have been working on a manakitanga based story. We have two characters Aaron & Olive. Our stop motion is short but has a good meaning to it! I hope you enjoy!!

Thanks for watching my stop motion I know it was short but it took us awhile to get the drawings write What I enjoyed throughout this hurumanu is the fact that we got the work done within the time given and that I would talk to my group members when my emotions would go crazy and something needed to change about the story. What else I enjoyed about this hurumanu was the fact that we got to choose what our story was about and how we presented it. I love that we got to work with new people and got to make more connections with the people around as we normally don’t talk to. One more thing I liked is that other people around me would respect my opinions and I respect theirs. What I found difficult was that one of my teammates didn’t join in and became a little distraction. What I mean by that was I would be on our doc doing our work and the teammate would be sitting there doing nothing but listening to music but we eventually worked it out in the end.

Wind speed - Making an anemometer.

MATERIALS 

1. 4 cups  
2. penicl  
3.   straws
4. tape  

STEPS

1.   poke holes in each of the cups
2.   stick straws through
3.   tape the straws together
4.   tape straws to penicl
5.   make sure its stable
6. there ya go
   
   Once you have made an anemometer we are going to record the wind speed.

   1. Mount the anemometer in a place that has full access to the wind from all directions.
   2. When the time keeper says "Go", the counter in each group will count how many times the marked cup passes them in one minute and write it down.
   3. If possible, repeat the above step four (4) times and record the average number of spins on the chart.

It has been hours since I last spoke with my dad his screaming and yelling has gotten to my head. I’ve had enough just to make this clear my dad is an alcoholic and I hate it. I have been waiting in my room for about 2 hours now still no sign of my dad coming back home I thought to myself *I’ve had enough I’m done I promised I would stay but it turned out I can't keep a promise.*

Normal POV

She then packed her bags and jumped out the window she ran into a forest it was dark gloomy Hadley had shivers going down her spin she mumbled under her breath “This better be worth it” She checked her watch it was 10 past 12. At that moment the world shook Hadley had been knocked out. She heard a cold demonic voice whisper in her ear. “Night Night” Before Hadley had been completely knocked out. After a few hours Hadley woke up she looked around the room before spotting someone staring at her she tried to move but soon realized she was chained to the wall. Matt spoke “Aw trying to leave already? Im Matt” 

Time Skip ~ Kyoya’s House

Ugh I hate it here my dad is just a pain I can’t take it anymore I grasped a knife before hearing my dad yelling from down stairs I dropped the knife I had in my hands before running down stairs he was drunk again. I Grumbled before quietly going back up stairs when I saw a hand come out of nowhere I got flung back before I got the smell of beer in my nose. I felt disgusting I yelled at him “WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM?” He slowly giggled before letting go I was planning to make a run for it before he pinned me against the wall and started choking me.

Kyoya was screaming out he started to cough up blood he keeps on trying to find a way to get free when he felt his dad’s hands sink and fall down before seeing a familiar face it was Crystal she then grabbed Kyoya’s dad and threw him to the ground they ran out the door

These pasrt few weeks in hurumanu classes 7/8bh and 7/8tz have been working on stop motion art we had 3 to 4 people in out groups in my group I had three people me, Shelby and meleana we got a choice to do clay stop motion or white board stop motion my group went with white board my group and I have 5 characters Kyoya, Crystal, Mateo and Kyoyas dad. we are doing this because we want to show people are work in a way that is going to take more than one day to do so people know it takes effort to make art. Art is one of my favourite thing to do but this art hurumanu... im not really enjoying it I have more fun making comics than I do making stop motions. Also we dont get a quite working area so I cant focus on anything I do because my ears are really and I mean really sencitive to noise but apart from that I love the fact that we can be creative and making a story. today me and my group were working on drawing out the characters we havent fully finished but where making a start! over all I love working on art!! goodbye and see you in the next blog make sure to give me some feedback of what I could improve.

CIP Last blogpost for term 2!

Through out this term we have been focusing

C.I.P has been pretty normal but has aslo been really fun to! Why because we reacently i got to draw drawing is a really big part of my life this is conected to C.I.P because we have started making a drawing compettion going from year 0 to year 8 this drawing compettion is going through out 3 schools Hornby Primiry, Gilberthots & St bernadettes I have been working on making a poster along with other people. Some other people are making the drawing designs to colour in, There are prizes included! Through out this C.I.P activity i have to say that this was my favourite part of the C.I.P this term.


Another thing we have done this term is something called Passion projects i have done two of these which is singing and dancing! Dancing is my favourite one because we get to move around instead of sitting in a room. In dancing me and jessica made a dance to the song born to make hystory you will be able to see this video of me and Jessica dancing to this soon! Over all i loved the passions i chose and i am probly going to choose the same ones next term!

SInging was also another really good passion! the people in the singing group are going to a concert to perform a song that we havent choosen yet but i am really excited to see what song it is. This singing group has also brought back old memiroes of songs i knew but forgot about so it brings a spark back to my life!

the temputer got up to 40 degrees and werent able to survive the heat

bats. tigers elephants gekos turtels

How could this effect the world ecosystems?
wild firs in the forest fires.

What global change was seen and recording breaking last year?

How is climate change affecting our weather systems?

What is another ettect of climate change?
The greemen ice sheets are mealting its losing 5x ice today than it was 25 years ago

What will happen if the ice melts in Antarctica and the Arctic?
it starts to affect them when the ice sheets move ice burgs to the ocean faster and faster making seas rise and making floods around the world

How does this affect people?
the ice burgs are making floods around the world

What other things affect oceans change?

the sea levels will rise the leanth of a foot ball feld every 45 minutes

What does to much heat do to coral?
30 percent starts to bleach coral and then die

Why did some industries not want to stop burning fossil fuels?

greedy and want money
